The Collective, Inc. is a video game development company located in Newport Beach, California. The company has created several games based on movies and television shows since its founding in 1997.

It was founded by three former Virgin Interactive employees, Douglas Hare, Gary Priest, and Richard Hare, in 1997. The company's first projects were to port Men in Black and The Game of Life Windows games to the PlayStation game console.
The developer predominantly works on titles licensed from movies and TV. Some of their most famous creations include Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Fallen (2000), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2002), and Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb (2003). The Collective created their own game engine called Slayer that they used for Buffy, Indiana Jones, and in current projects.
In early 2004, The Collective released Wrath Unleashed, their first non-licensed title. As of 2004, the company has grown to 90 employees and made a game based on Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith under the same title. They have also created Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, with Marc Ecko and the title The Da Vinci Code, loosely based on the film.
On March 29, 2005, it was announced that The Collective had merged with Backbone Entertainment to form a new company, Foundation 9 Entertainment.
