WPEG Power 98 is located in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and broadcasts at 97.9 FM.
WPEG has been a longtime heritage Urban Contemporary radio station for Charlotte since its launchdate in 1979. Then it was branded WPEG 98 FM for years until 1993 when it adopted its current name Power 98. The station continues to thrive in the market with its sister station Urban AC WBAV V-101.9 as the main competitor, but it also competes today with Rhythmic Top 40 Hip Hop rival WIBT 96.1 The Beat and other Urban AC station WQNC Q-92.7.
