Scouting in Greater Manchester West is part of the Scout Association in the United Kingdom. The Scout county covers the Metropolitan boroughs of Salford, Trafford and Wigan.

The Scout county is divided in 10 districts with about 100 local units:

- Atherton and Tyldesley
- Ellesmere
- Leigh and District
- Sale and District
- Salford
- Stretford
- Swinton and Pendlebury
- Urmston and District
- Wigan and District
[edit] Notable local groups
The 1st Flixton Scout Group is the oldest Scout group in the district of Urmston and District. It is a member of the Greater Manchester West county. There are documents in the Scout groups archives to support the fact they started in the year 1907, along with the Scout movement itself. In 2007, the group will be celebrating their centenary. The Scout group comprises of a Beaver colony, a Cub scout pack, a Scouts section and an Explorer scouts unit. All sections wear a maroon and gold neckerchief, except for the Explorer unit, who wear a khaki and royal blue neckerchief.

The County runs a campsite, Middlewood, which is near the town of Worsley.
It is located near the Bridgewater Canal, allowing easy hiking access to groups.
The site has a mixture of wooded campsites and open fields, as well as indoor accommodation.
Activities run on site include kayakaing, canoing, archery, and angling.
