Charles Hardin Holley or Buddy Holly (September 7,1936-February 3, 1959) was a famous American rock and roll singer and performer. He was from Lubbock, Texas.
Buddy Holly is one of the caprocks of Rock 'n' Roll and of Rockabilly, too. His short career of only 18 months changed the music world.
World famous singers and groups confess to be inspired by his music. Beatles, Stones, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, to name only a few.
Buddy Holly was a singer, a composer, a musician playing several instruments and one of those, who invented overdubbing, a technique combining 2 mono songs. You sing a song and then you sing the song again and then you listen to the 2 songs at the same time, that's overdubbing.
In 2006 Buddy Holly would have celebrated his 70th birthday, but, as you all know, he was killed on a soy field near Mason City Iowa on the 3rd of February, 1959. The day the music died.
There are a lot of fans worldwide. The Buddy Holly Story continues. An endless story. He was killed in an airplane crash. The Big Bopper and Richie Valens was with him also. That's what made it so painful that day. Also thats why they say That's the day The Music Died!
