The Catalan language is spoken in Catalonia, Valencia Community, east of Aragon, Balearic Islands (all of them in Spain), Andorra, North Catalonia (in France) and in the Italian city of L'Alguer. The language nearest to Catalan is Occitan. About 10 million people speak Catalan. Catalan is a Romance language.
